The Hill Country Home & Outdoor Living Show kicks off tomorrow at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, and nowās the time to lock in your free ticket.
Spend the weekend exploring hundreds of home improvement, renovation, dƩcor, and outdoor living ideas all under one roof. Browse vendor booths, catch expert demos, shop Market Street vendors, and stick around for bingo, prizes, and hourly giveaways. Plus, family-friendly highlights like the Bright Ideas Kidpreneur Showcase and the Little Lights Grow & Design Zone support local nonprofit Light Work 316.

Free kids fishing, rainbow trout, prizes, and a full day of outdoor fun
The 27th Annual Fun Fish returns to Canyon Park, 1769 Canyon Park Rd in Canyon Lake, on Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Hosted by WORD, this free event for kids ages 3ā16 features stocked rainbow trout in a contained area of the lake, special fish tanks for younger anglers, and loaner fishing gear available while supplies last.
Families can also enjoy educational activities, a Biggest Fish competition, tagged fish prize opportunities, bingo card raffles, giveaways including T-shirts and medals, and lunch options while supplies last. Online registration has closed, but day-of registration will be available until capacity is reached. Gates open at 9:00 am and spots are first-come, first-served, so plan to arrive early.

Buy, sell, or trade plants with fellow New Braunfels plant lovers
Plant enthusiasts, this oneās for you. The March Plant Swap takes place this Sunday afternoon from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at The Villa, bringing together local sellers with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants available for sale or trade.
The event will be held on the covered patio at The Villa, 1190 Gruene Rd. Guests under 21 are welcome to attend, and dogs are allowed in the patio area. Vendors should bring their own tables and are encouraged to clearly price and label their plants for sale or swap.

Free Electronics Recycling for City Residents This Saturday
New Braunfels residents can securely recycle electronics at no cost on Saturday, February 28. Participants must bring a current utility bill and ID. Accepted items include computers, TVs, monitors, printers, laptops, and cell phones. Appliances, batteries, light bulbs, and items containing Freon will not be accepted.
Monthly Outdoor Siren Test Set for Friday Morning
Comal County will conduct its routine outdoor warning siren test on Friday starting at 8:30 am. This is only a test. No action is required. These monthly checks help ensure the system is ready for real emergencies.
Mill Street Youth Center Preparing to Open for Teens
The new Mill Street Youth Center at 430 W. Mill St. is set to open soon, offering free after-school programs, job training, tutoring, and career exploration for sixth- through 12th-grade students. The renovated 27,000-square-foot historic building will host a grand opening week March 9ā13 and an āAdult Recessā community event on March 27.
Final Weekend at Faust Brewing Company
Faust Brewing Company will open its doors one last time Friday through Sunday from 2 pm to 10 pm. The farewell weekend includes major discounts on draft beer, growlers, cases, kegs, and merchandise as the longtime local favorite closes out its run.
Swim Meet to Close Pools This Weekend
The Leisure Pool and Competition Pool will be closed Saturday and Sunday due to a scheduled swim meet. Residents can view the full swim team schedule online.

At a recent City Council meeting, Brooklyn Houston was honored for her calm and compassionate response following a November school bus crash. Officers praised her leadership and composure as she helped classmates during the incident.
Boat Ramp 18 Closed Saturday for Fun Fish Event
Boat Ramp 18 at Canyon Park will be temporarily closed Saturday to accommodate the Fun Fish event. The ramp will reopen Sunday for normal use.
