šŸ“š SOUTHEAST LIBRARY DESIGN CONTRACT APPROVED

A new branch is coming to serve New Braunfels’ fastest-growing neighborhoods

New Braunfels City Council has approved a $1.88 million contract with Ford, Powell & Carson Architects to complete the final design for the Southeast Library—a major step forward for this voter-approved bond project.

The new library will be located off Walnut Avenue, just south of the Guadalupe River and east of I-35, and will add a much-needed branch to the city’s growing library system.

Part of Proposition C from the 2023 Bond Program, the library will span 23,250 square feet and include community meeting rooms, a public plaza, garden space, quiet study rooms, and even cafƩ services. The branch is designed to serve six schools within walking distance and offer resources to families in this booming area of town.

Design is expected to wrap by summer 2026, followed by the start of construction. Total project costs have risen to $28.5 million due to inflation and expanded scope, but city leaders say the investment is critical to support future growth.

If you frequent downtown New Braunfels, get ready for a change: Starting July 7, 238 on-street spots will become paid parking spaces. The new ordinance was approved this week following years of study and community feedback.

The new system keeps the first hour free but then charges $2 per hour up to a $10 daily cap. Paid hours will be enforced 10 am to 10 pm, seven days a week. Parking violations will cost $100, though a reduced $65 rate is available if paid within 10 days.

The city has partnered with Interstate Parking to manage the program, with mobile pay options and parking ambassadors helping visitors navigate the change. The goal? Free up parking turnover and improve access for locals and downtown businesses alike.

Why Summer Is the Perfect Time to Install a Water Softener in New Braunfels

New Braunfels has some of the hardest water in the country — and that can spell big trouble for your home. From ruining dishwashers and water heaters to drying out your skin and hair, hard water damage adds up fast.

That’s why we trust Aqua-Man Water Conditioning, a locally owned company that’s been protecting homes in the Hill Country for more than 30 years. They offer custom systems tailored to your needs — no gimmicks, just clean, soft water you can count on.

Protect your home before the summer heat makes water issues worse.
