CITY OF NEW BRAUNFELS OPENS NEWEST PARK: WILLARD CANYON

A gift of land transforms into a new natural escape for locals

The City of New Braunfels has officially opened Willard Canyon, a 10-acre park offering wooded trails and peaceful nature just minutes from the bustle of town. Located at 616 Beverley Lane, the park is a donation from Dr. Fred and Colleen Willard, who gifted the land to ensure it would remain a green space for the community.

Mayor Neal Linnartz called the new park “a true gift,” pointing out how it adds to the city’s growing list of trails and outdoor options. Thanks to nearly $20,000 in support from the New Braunfels Parks Foundation, visitors can now explore almost a mile of interconnected trails, including the easy Canyon Trail, the shady Ledges Trail, and the rocky Cactus Trail.

Willard Canyon is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, with on-street parking at the trailhead, shaded picnic tables, and a trail map to guide your adventure.

Where the river meets the market, and the vibes are unbeatable

This weekend, Mountain Breeze Campground will transform into a Hill Country marketplace filled with music, food, floating, and shopping. River Road Market Days runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with dozens of vendors selling handmade goods, boutique apparel, and local produce.

Set along the banks of the Guadalupe River, it’s more than just a market. Guests can float the river, grab a cabin or RV for the night, sip drinks from the on-site bar, and enjoy live music while browsing artisan creations.

New Braunfels students returned to school this week, and that means a lot of new teen drivers are on the road.

Is your teen driving to school this year? Even the safest young drivers can end up in a fender bender, and most don’t know what to do next.

Here’s a quick guide to share with them:

• Call 911 – Report the accident and request help if anyone is hurt.

• Don’t admit fault – Avoid saying “I’m sorry” or guessing what happened. Let insurance and investigators handle that.

• Take photos or video – Document the scene, vehicle damage, road signs, and anything else that helps tell the story.

• Exchange information – Get the other driver’s insurance, license plate number, and contact info.

Tip: Print this list and keep it in the glovebox. Being prepared can make all the difference.

The team at Kyle Law Firm is always here if you need guidance after a serious crash. Local, experienced, and focused on what’s best for your family.
