đź’—How You Can Support Flood Relief Efforts
Good morning, New Braunfels. It was an incredibly sad, tough weekend here in the Hill Country as our friends and neighbors have suffered enormous losses of life and property due to the devastating floods.
With that in mind, today’s newsletter will be a bit different from our usual Monday publication as we’d like to focus a bit on how New Braunfels can help those in need while also discussing some of the local impacts the weather has had here in town.

COMMUNITY DONATION DRIVE AT LONG CREEK HIGH SCHOOL TODAY
Helping Hill Country neighbors in need after devastating floods
In the wake of the catastrophic flooding that has impacted towns across the Hill Country, the Long Creek Band Parent Association is stepping up to help those most affected. Today, Monday, July 7, they are hosting a donation drive from 10 am to 2 pm at Long Creek High School in the Band Rehearsal Lot.
Organizers are collecting essential supplies to deliver directly to flood victims. Requested items include:
Bottled water
Non-perishable food (especially canned goods)
Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D)
Pet food, collars, and leashes
Diapers, wipes, and baby toiletries
Blankets, bedding, towels
Toiletries and hygiene items
New undergarments and socks (with tags)
Due to limited storage space, they have said that used clothing donations cannot be accepted during drop-off hours.
If you're unable to attend during today’s donation window, you can email [email protected] to arrange an alternative drop-off.
Every small act of generosity will make a real difference for those trying to recover from unthinkable losses.

If you're looking to support flood relief with a financial contribution, it's important to give through trusted channels. The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund is a safe, effective way to help.
Established by The Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity serving the Texas Hill Country, this fund supports vetted nonprofits, first responder agencies, and local governments providing rescue, relief, and recovery in Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort.
While donations won’t go directly to individuals or property repairs, they will reach the people and groups actively working on the front lines. All gifts are tax-deductible and come with a donation receipt.
📍 You can give online or by mail: 241 Earl Garrett Street, Kerrville, TX 78028

RIVER ACCESS CLOSED, ROADS IMPACTED AS NEW BRAUNFELS RECOVERS FROM WEEKEND STORMS
City crews work to assess damage and ensure safety as recovery efforts continue
As surrounding Hill Country communities face heartbreaking losses from this weekend’s deadly flooding, New Braunfels also felt the impact of intense storms that swept through the region.
Over the weekend, access to both the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers was temporarily closed due to dangerously high water levels, poor water clarity, and submerged debris. City officials issued the closures out of concern for public safety and announced that river access would remain closed through at least Sunday, July 6.
A reevaluation is expected this morning to determine if conditions are safe enough to reopen. At the time of this writing, however, things remain closed.
The Landa Park Aquatic Complex also experienced partial disruptions. While the Olympic and Zero Depth pools were open to the public Sunday, the Springfed Pool remained closed due to the impact of recent rains.
Multiple roadways throughout the city were also barricaded due to flooding or storm damage. Officials continue to emphasize that residents should not drive around barricades or through standing water—a critical safety reminder in these conditions: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
Updates on local road closures can be found at newbraunfels.gov/roadclosures.
The community is urged to remain alert, stay safe, and look out for one another during this time of regional crisis.

We’ll continue to share ways to support those in need in the days ahead. In the meantime, stay safe, stay kind, and keep an eye out around town for opportunities to lend a hand.
Until next time,
