Start Independence Day with one of New Braunfels' most cherished traditions.
The Sophienburg Museum's Annual Fourth of July Parade returns on Saturday, July 4, stepping off at 9:15 AM through Downtown New Braunfels. Families are encouraged to wear their most patriotic red, white, and blue, bring lawn chairs, and enjoy an old-fashioned hometown celebration complete with a patriotic musical program by the New Braunfels Community Band following the parade.
The parade route begins at Castell and Bridge Streets, continues through Downtown, circles Main Plaza, and concludes near Seguin and Zink Streets. Whether you're continuing a family tradition or attending for the first time, it's a wonderful way to kick off Independence Day.

Know what's open and what's closed before the holiday weekend begins.
The City of New Braunfels will observe Independence Day (Observed) on Friday, July 3, with many city facilities, including City Hall, the Public Library, Municipal Court, and several administrative offices, closed for the holiday. Residential garbage and recycling collection, however, will continue on its normal schedule.
Some facilities, including Landa Park Aquatic Complex, Das Rec, and the Westside Community Center, will remain open with modified holiday hours. Traffic closures around Main Plaza are also expected on Saturday morning during the annual Fourth of July Parade.
