🛍️ Gruene Market Days, French Wine, & More New Braunfels Fun

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Happy Thursday, New Braunfels! The weekend is almost here, and there are some great ways to make the most of it around town. From shopping handmade goods in Gruene to sipping French wine and supporting local student-athletes, we've rounded up a few events worth adding to your calendar.

Our locally owned partners at Massage Heights are making it easy to support local families this summer. Through August, their New Braunfels and Spring Branch/Bulverde locations are collecting food donations to help provide meals for local children who may not have access to school meal programs during summer break.

Donate $10 worth of nonperishable food, such as mac and cheese, beans, spaghetti sauce, or pasta, and you'll receive a FREE Elevation to use during your next visit. It's a simple way to help feed local kids while treating yourself to a little relaxation.

Browse nearly 100 Texas artisans this weekend

Gruene Market Days returns this Saturday and Sunday, August 15–16, bringing nearly 100 artisans from across Texas to the Gruene Historic District. Browse handmade goods, unique home décor, artisan crafts, and Texas-made foods while enjoying complimentary live entertainment.

Admission and parking are free, making it an easy weekend outing. Once you're done shopping, you can explore Gruene's restaurants, specialty shops, tasting rooms, and other attractions nearby.

Pair five French wines with five artisanal cheeses

Get ready for an evening of French flavors at Otto's Cheese Shop on Saturday, August 15. The 90-minute tasting features five French wines paired with five French cheeses, with guidance from the shop's Certified Cheese Professionals.

After the tasting, you'll have time to browse the shop and pick up some of your favorite selections. Admission is $48.71, and the event begins at 7:30 PM at 344 Landa St.

Health insurance doesn't have to be a one-size-fits-all decision. Our Hill Country partner, Penn Mallery, helps individuals, families, and small business owners explore custom PPO health plans designed around their specific needs and budgets.

With nationwide provider networks, optional dental and vision coverage, and year-round enrollment, you may have more options than you realize. If you're dealing with rising premiums, limited provider choices, or simply wondering whether you're on the right plan, it may be worth taking a closer look.

Help support New Braunfels High School sports

The NBHS All Sports Booster Club is hosting its annual Go Blue Gala on Saturday, August 15, at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center. As the organization's largest fundraiser of the year, the event helps provide more than $120,000 in support for New Braunfels High School athletic programs.

Funds raised help teams with equipment, program needs, facility improvements, seasonal seed money, and other requests that directly benefit student-athletes and coaches. It's a chance to celebrate Unicorn Athletics while helping invest in the next generation of local athletes.

DID YOU KNOW?

Just 3 months after the German settlers arrived, Hermann Seele gathered 15 children beneath a grove near what is now the Sophienburg Museum and began teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic in both German and English.

Seele would go on to become one of the most important figures in New Braunfels history. He helped establish the town's first public school, served as mayor, alderman, preacher, postmaster, justice of the peace, state legislator, and played a key role in preserving the rights of early settlers.
