🥂 Cider Tasting, New Trail, & Big Gym Changes

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, New Braunfels! How has the start to your week been so far?

There’s a little bit of everything happening around town right now, from a unique tasting experience to a brand-new outdoor spot to explore and a major shakeup in the local fitness scene. In today’s email, we’ll tell you about a cider and cheese tasting at Otto’s, the newly opened North Rim Trail at Panther Canyon, and what to know about the upcoming Gold’s Gym closure and what’s replacing it.

This April, Massage Heights is teaming up with Chick-fil-A and local food pantries to help families celebrate their child’s birthday with something many take for granted—a cake. By donating simple items like cake mix, frosting, candles, or even a birthday card, you can help create meaningful moments for kids in our community.

As a thank you, you’ll receive a FREE service elevation with your next visit, with options like Hot Stone Therapy, Revitalizing Face Massage, and more. Donations are being accepted now through April 30 at Massage Heights New Braunfels and Spring Branch Bulverde.

A guided tasting experience that brings together local cider and artisan cheese

A cider and cheese tasting is happening at Otto’s Cheese Shop this Wednesday night, offering a relaxed and flavorful evening in the heart of New Braunfels. Guests will sample Texas Keeper Cider alongside thoughtfully paired cheeses, learning how different flavors complement each other throughout the experience.

With a focus on craftsmanship and local ingredients, this guided tasting is perfect for anyone looking to try something new or enjoy a laid-back night out. Tickets are $38.39 per person, and the event is for guests 21 and older at 344 Landa Street.

TAKE ON THE NEW NORTH RIM TRAIL AT PANTHER CANYON

A scenic and more challenging addition to Landa Park’s trail system

The City of New Braunfels has officially opened the North Rim Trail at Panther Canyon, adding a new 0.7-mile route to the existing trail system in Landa Park. Designed for those looking for a bit more of a challenge, the trail features steeper elevation, rocky terrain, and narrow sections along the canyon rim.

Hikers can access the trail from multiple points along the existing system, with a scenic overlook about 0.35 miles from the main trailhead offering treetop views across the canyon. It’s a great new option for anyone wanting to explore a different side of one of the city’s most popular outdoor spaces.

If you needed a reason to go out tonight, here it is. Happy Cow Bar & Grill is serving up juicy NY Strip steaks from Granzin’s Meat Market paired with a baked potato for just $16—yeah, that’s not a typo.

Top it off with a $2.50 Shiner plus live music from rising star Cameron Allbright and you’ve got one of the best low-key dinner deals in town. Kitchen opens at 5, so show up hungry and claim your spot early.

👉 Check it out here and make it a steak night.

Gold’s Gym closing as a $6M transformation brings a new concept to town

Gold’s Gym in New Braunfels is reportedly set to close on April 14, marking a big shift in the local fitness scene. The closure is part of a larger redevelopment plan, with the space undergoing a $6 million renovation to become a new 24/7 fitness center from Crunch Fitness with expanded amenities.

The upcoming Crunch Fitness facility is expected to include group classes, recovery services, childcare, and specialty training areas, aiming to offer a more modern fitness experience. In the meantime, current members will have their memberships paused and can access nearby locations while the transformation is underway.
