Surprise vet bills can certainly bite. But fear not, pet insurance can be your lifeline. Some plans cover major surgeries — which can cost up to $7,000 — so you can afford the best care for your pet.

Check out our top-rated pet insurance providers, with some plans offering coverage for just $1 a day, multi-pet coverage, and reimbursement options of up to 90%. With the right coverage, you could keep your pet (and your wallet) happy.

A new survey and public meeting put residents in the driver’s seat

Every year, New Braunfels sets aside funds to tackle the never-ending task of street maintenance. Now, with the 2025/2026 budget in the works, city officials are asking residents which roads should move to the top of the list.

The Public Works Department will host a public forum on Wednesday, August 27, at 6 p.m. inside New Braunfels City Hall, 550 Landa Street. There, residents can see the proposed plan, learn how projects are prioritized, and most importantly, voice their opinions on what stretches of pavement need the most attention.

For those who can’t attend, an online survey will be open August 25 through September 5 at newbraunfels.gov/streetsurvey. With nearly 1,000 lane miles of roadway to manage, the city says community feedback plays a direct role in shaping which projects move forward.
