THE WEIGHTED PLATE IS COMING BACK TO NEW BRAUNFELS
A downtown reopening marks a new chapter for a local favorite

Just weeks after its sudden closure, The Weighted Plate has announced itās officially making a comeback ā this time in downtown New Braunfels. The beloved bar and community hangout shared the news on Facebook, instantly sparking excitement among longtime regulars who werenāt ready to say goodbye.
The Weighted Plate closed its FM 1102 location in late November after just 13 months, with owners citing challenges tied to local politics, neighbor complaints, and parking issues despite strong business growth and loyal support. In a short time, the space became known for creative cocktails, live music, and spotlighting local vendors.

City holiday closures and service schedule changes to know before Thursday
As Christmas approaches, the City of New Braunfels has released its official holiday closure schedule for December 24ā25. Many city facilities will be closed in observance of Christmas Day, including City Hall, Municipal Court, Parks & Recreation administrative offices, the Fischer Park Nature Center, Solid Waste & Recycling offices, and the City Recycling Center.
Garbage, recycling, and green waste pickup scheduled for Christmas Day will be moved to the following morning, December 26. Residents are asked to place carts at the curb the night before or by 6 a.m. on collection day.
Knowing whatās open and closed now can help avoid last-minute surprises during the holiday week.

A heartfelt goodbye as a local coffee trailer prepares for its next chapter
Lucky Brew has announced that its New Braunfels coffee trailer will officially close on December 31, marking the end of a short but meaningful chapter for the small business. Since opening in March, keeping the trailer going locally proved challenging, and after a difficult personal loss this fall, the owner has decided to move operations to Brenham to be closer to family.
While this isnāt the news regulars were hoping for, there was reassurance that this isnāt a permanent goodbye. Lucky Brew will continue operating in Brenham, and bottled lattes will still be available here in New Braunfels by request.
